Two Australians and one New Zealander take the Cassock at Holy Cross Seminary on the Feast of the Assumption.
On the day the Church celebrates Our Lady being lifted up from the world to be triumphantly clothed in glory, three seminarians (two Australians and a New Zealander) received the cassock at Holy Cross Seminary. The taking of the cassock is the first step towards the priesthood, which seminarians take in their Spirituality year (the second of seven years of seminary studies). The cassock sets the seminarian apart from those in the world, and symbolizes the wearer's death to the world as he strives to become more closely united to God. The newly appointed Rector, Fr. Robert MacPherson, celebrated the Mass and blessed the cassocks. Covid-19 restrictions prevented families from out-of-state attending, but the mass was live-streamed for their benefit and may be found here. The sermon alone can be found at this link.
Please pray for these and all our seminarians that they may live and continue to discern their vocations.
